Swimming with the Pigs in Nassau, Bahamas
Have you ever dreamed of swimming with some really cool animals? Did you know there’s a place where you can swim with PIGS! That’s right! In the Bahamas, there’s a super fun experience with Bahamas Land and Sea that lets you splash around with the friendliest pigs on Earth. This makes the perfect half-day excursion while visiting Nassau, Bahamas.
We recently booked a half-day adventure with the Bahamas Land and Sea Tour operators and made a snorkeling and pig adventure come to life! It was one of the kids’s favorite things about the whole trip.
Meet the Pigs of Pig Beach!
Pig Beach is a special place on a small island in the Exumas, where wild pigs live right by the ocean. These pigs are no ordinary pigs—they LOVE to swim! They waddle right into the water and paddle their little feet like pros. Imagine floating in crystal-clear water with cute pigs swimming next to you. It’s like having a piggy pool party!
Why Do Pigs Love the Water?
You might wonder, why do these pigs swim? No one knows for sure, but some say they were brought to the island by sailors who wanted a fun place for their animal friends. Now, these pigs are the stars of the island, and they LOVE visitors. When you arrive, they’ll swim out to greet you, hoping for a treat!
How Can You Join the Fun?
With the Bahamas Land and Sea tour operator, your family can take a boat ride to Pig Beach. As you sail through the beautiful blue waters of the Bahamas, you’ll see so much more than just pigs! There’s colorful fish, sandy beaches, and maybe even dolphins. Once you get to Pig Beach, you’ll get to play with the pigs, take pictures, and enjoy the sunny island vibes.
What to Bring on Your Adventure
Before you jump in to swim with the pigs, make sure you pack:
- Swimsuits (of course!)
- Sunscreen (because no one wants a sunburn)
- A towel to dry off after all the fun
- A waterproof camera to snap pics with your new piggy pals
- Your patience! This is usually a crowded place so there will be some waiting times.
Why We Love It
Swimming with the pigs is more than just a fun adventure—it’s a way to learn about animals and nature. Plus, how many people can say they’ve shared the ocean with a pig?! This was the excursion of a lifetime and something our girls still talk about. You can get some fabulous pictures here so make sure you bring your camera and video equipment. It’s not every day that you get to swim and feed pigs in the beautiful waters of the Bahamas!
Your Family Adventure Awaits!
